A crosswalk that doesn’t interact with cars is a great idea. Usually they’re bridges, but I get why nobody would want that blocking the view of the strip.

The whole thing is so obviously a grift/vanity project, so I think that’s a given.

But a proper light rail (like Vegas already has covering some places) would be even faster and carry more people at a time.

Harmless... unless somehow your tax dollars helped pay for it.

The purpose of this is the same as Musk admittedly gaslighting the entire state of California about the hyperloop... Musk hates public transportation and does everything he can to stop it from happening.

This whole project was a boondoggle Muskrat used to siphon money and attention away from actual public transportation projects. He’s publically admitted it! Practicality was never a concern because it’s the infrastructure equivalent of trolling.

Because its called The Boring Company, NOT The Walking Bridges Corporation.

What a great idea to have cars behind them (going 150 mph) to be passing stopped cars unloading humans in both directions.  Did they budget for a metric fuckton of first-aid kits and bodybags (more the latter than former)?

Not if they want to keep the actual tunneling as cheap as they claim.

So, basically this could have been replaced by some covered escalators people mover conveyers like you see in airports to go over a bridge over the busy street?

Also hope a car doesn’t break down and catch fire right at that emergency exit.

Musk relies heavily on his customers to be monumentally stupid with absolutely no critical thinking skills.

So from that blurb I have to assume Tesla has invented a way for cars/passenger to pass through each other like those twins in Matrix 2. Otherwise how does one car pass another stopped and dropping off passengers to go to a different stop further down without stopping itself?

What a stupid description...it’s like they don’t even know how their own system works.

Sure, it’s stupid, but you have to remember that the alternative is walking! I know!

Except the courts will never, ever make Elon pay for his negligence like they did for Navin Johnson.

Ok, so I just watched the video and I was wrong about lack of sunlight. But the realization that you’d literally start getting tunnel vision makes it even worse. In a few years it will probably be like something from “The Jerk” coming to life.

Digging the tunnel wasn’t a bad idea. Not laying down tracks and using an automated tram was.

Imagine the monotony and mental abuse you’d have to endure being a driver on that job — probably long hours, crap pay, and nothing but loud, annoying, self-absorbed convention goers — often drunk and obnoxious — making the same dumb comments and jokes over and over, every 5 minutes. Plus nothing but artificial light

One exit for the entire first tunnel? Boy, I sure hope that door doesn’t jam in case of an EV fire, that tend to burn for quite a while. And that household fire extinguisher at the start better be inspected.
