The Waymo taxis have mechanical LIDAR scanners on the roof and at each corner, and they operate in carefully limited environments. No way Musk’s ego would permit that much caution, expense or maintenance.

I go back to San Francisco pretty often for work and last trip I decided to give Waymo a shot for the first time. I did 3 rides over a 5 day stay and I was really happy with how easy it was and how smooth it was and it seemed less expensive than an Uber or Lyft would’ve been. I would use it again.

Seems like the only way Leon’s Robotaxis are going to make it to market by 2026 is if they steal code and/or higher ups from Waymo.  Waymo has been working on the issue for 15 years, no way Tesla is going to be able to meet that kind of sophistication in two years.

Looks like he didn’t by the “Boarding” package when he booked. Everyone knows it’s $150 to board at the gate if you didn’t pre-purchase.

Well not reasonable if his story is true he said the gate agent wanted it to her personal account. I agree the military thing isnt a free pass, thats why when I travel either on official business or for personal travel I’m always exceptionally early and do laps between gates unless I’m in uniform then I wont because a

Obviously? Since we’re all making assumptions, I assume you were present for the interaction?

I don’t think there’s actually a late fee.  This situation is all kinds of shady.

Given that he recorded the incident, scenario 1 seems unlikely.

Yeah I’m sure we can trust that he was late, given that the source of that information is the person who was trying to extort him for $50 to allow him on the plane.

He said he was able to board the flight after he pretended to send the money to her account.

Employees extorting service members certainly doesn’t help enhances Frontier’s reputation as a low-cost carrier

Thank you for your service.*

Frontier gonna Frontier.

Some smaller airports don't have gates.  Those are usually the ones where the keys are kept behind the desk, though

It’s not theft. Hertz already has their payment information on file and has given them a reservation. Anything else is to prevent those who do not have payment info or a reservation from taking them. Unless the contract that is part of that reservation says different, the renters held up their part and it was Hertz

*ba-dum-pish*

National has cars waiting with keys in and you’re assigned a row to go and take a car from or a car specifically depending on the location. I want to say some Hertz locations do too, but it’s been a while since I rented from Hertz as my company has a sweetheart with Enterprise and National.

How many people did this?

I have used them in the US, Central America, and Europe and they never disappoint.  They are owned by BMW so you usually get a nice Bimmer.  I can usually rent a 3-series or x3/4 with Sixt for about the same cost as a midsize sedan from Avis.

Sixt has been amazingly good every time I’ve used them, and they have cooler cars.
