Why is that same header image used whenever talking about this film? It looks awful. Every time I see it I think, “It puts the lotion on its skin...”

I’m sure she does a great job. I’m just sorry that her breakthrough is in a by-the-numbers remake that no one asked for, the latest in a series of such flicks.
I know why that was at the top of the list for this type of treatment, but of all Disney movies it made the least sense to convert to live action since every damn character in the movie can ONLY be animated (photorealistic or otherwise).
I think he had the curse of getting Too Big Too Fast, and now the backlash to something being extremely popular is starting to become the narrative itself. (See also: Garden State, M. Night Shyamalan, etc.) He hasn’t done anything wrong, nor is his work bad - it’s just that the mainstream adopted the shtick so fast…
“Or whatever The Lion King was”
I just refer to it as “reanimated.” I figure that sums it up.
My 13-year-old can sing/rap Hamilton in its entirety, and now rolls her eyes when someone intentionally listens to it in the car. She tells me no one listens to Hamilton anymore. I’ll never be cool.
Well that’s not remotely surprising. Every single Disney remake, even the ones I like such as Cinderella, always seem bloated compared to the original. The Beauty and the Beast one especially feels like someone just extended every scene 5 minutes too long. I’m sure Bailey is really good and I wish her well in future…
Did I miss when we as a society decided that Lin-Manuel Miranda sucked? Because it seems like a lot of the commentary around this movie is just making that base assumption, and I have no idea where it’s coming from.
So, this is a real question to today’s singles from an old married man who hasn’t dated in decades: in practice and in people’s experiences, is it standard to verbally ask to kiss, and anything short of that is problematic? I’m Gen X, so I know I have some dated ideas on all sorts of things, but I still see nothing…
I don’t really care for the changes to Kiss the Girls as it seems like typical misunderstanding of both consent and feminism from a corporation who is only interested in these things from a money perspective. If anything the problem with the original movie is that Prince Eric is the one who kinda can’t consent.…
Well, I certainly hope this turns out as well as Disco Demolition Night. (Stonewall was a riot.)
Pfft. What’s the worst that could happen?
I’m already risking the wrath of the WGA, I’m not going to push my luck.
“Not bad, but it needs a bunch of N-words and probably an F-bomb.”
There are not enough fucks in that comment for that fucking rapist.
Is there any other film (or theater for that matter) events that get these circle jerk versions of standing ovations? I’ve seen some amazing performances in my life, but I can’t think of anything I would ever like that required clapping for 7 minutes straight. I may be ADHD, but 7 minutes is a really fucking long…
Yeah France is going to France.
Suddenly, without warning, the All New, All Different, Reunited Crazy 88s burst onto the red carpet and surround Uma Thurman. The crowd runs, screaming.
These people have spent 40+ years sheltering and praising a man who, at the age of 43, drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl, was put on trial, and fled the jurisdiction before sentencing. Hell, before 2021, French law didn’t even automatically consider it rape for an adult to have sex with child under the age of 15.
This fucking asshole owes this “comeback” to the woman, 21 years his junior, he abused, tortured, and bullied for years.
