Yeah I'll second that. I had my Kindle Fire (yes really) sitting on my metal table in my garage while doing some soldering. In a case, just playing some music. Suddenly it just goes up, and it burns FAST. I call Amazon after I dunked it into a 5 gallon of water and ask the customer service rep what happened. "oh that

I would guess the rate of EV fires will no doubt increase as the average age of EV’s on the road increases.

It depends on which type of MS a patient has. Even today, it’s treatable, but there’s still no cure, and Frank makes a comment to the effect of “they didn’t even have a cure for this back then.” We obviously only see small snippets of Frank’s life, but his symptoms in the show could fit with secondary progressive MS

Start slowly? I had a Lithium battery burst into flames in my garage. I was lucky to get it out on the driveway where it kept burning until I shoveled it into a garden bed where it kept reigniting until I completely buried it in dirt. But I guess these car fires don’t just consume the battery all at once.

Would make a cool Myth Busters episode.

ALS is the epitome of terminal bud

Only half joking:

Yep. And if there’s a situation that the apparatus has no way of hooking to a hydrant. Say an interstate in California again? But next time in dry season. That’s easily going to cause a several thousand acre forest. Or a small/volunteer department in the middle of nowhere without access to a hydrant. That has the

500 gallon tank on fire apparatus is all too common. 6,000 gallons to extinguish a small passenger vehicle is a problem. It’s newsworthy.

Blow the universe

(My then-fiancee, now-wife once drove a bunch of friends down to Baltimore for Otakon in her old minivan. Smoke started spontaneously billowing from the hood and HVAC vents, and as they evacuated, a helpful passerby informed them, “Your car’s on fire!”)

Worth the reminder if you, or anyone you know, says, “Oh, I’ll never drive an EV, I always hear about them catching fire.”

FSD isn’t FSD until the car can drive itself into the closest pool when on fire.

ALS is always terminal, though. My dad is going through it right now.

Seems like EV-specific firefighting equipment is needed. Water ain’t gonna cut it.

What you’re forgetting is that it’s fairly common for people to leave their laptops sitting open on a desk in their bedroom, especially students. And what you’re also forgetting is that as far back as 2010 schools have spied on students via webcam on school-issued and/or -managed laptops.

Keep your kink shaming to yourself!

Just a comment that you can’t truly rely on the led “on” indicator as it can be defeated with malware. Granted, less likely on a Mac than say on a PC, but still a possibility. You don’t want to damage your screen, but a physical cover fixes the software challenge. So here’s to the Post-It note when I’m watching

Make sure your mic is off too.

I’ll destroy my MacBook before I get caught masturbating in a company meeting when I thought my camera was off.
