There’s no officially stated reason, but the presumed reason is because if you actually say exactly what you are and are not okay with, it will lay too plain how inconsistently their policies are really applied, and reveal the degree of favoritism and hypocrisy going on behind the scenes, so the vaguer they can keep

I’m wondering how much of this is actually economically driven. When something is “demonetized” (what a wonderful, humane word!), that doesn’t mean youtube doesn’t show ads as it plays. It just means they don’t share any of the ad revenue with the author.

I do wonder if a lot of this is to get rid of the rank-and-file video uploader, leaving only the big-money, big-time video providers.

Side note , but that reminds me of when Deadpool featured in one of the Spiderman animated shows a few years ago . He spent a bit of time riffing that his normal vocabulary was pretty limited since he was on a Disney show

Gosh Darn Melon Farmers!!

Yeah, it’s definitely way more likely the driver slammed on brakes and changed lanes for no reason, than a computer beta that is well known to constantly do stuff like that. Put down the kool aid.

If the ad advertises a product that has violence or swearing on it (say a movie, I get plenty of those) why can’t the streamer swear as well? What’s the argument there?

If youtube wants to pretend we’re all good christians that can’t handle some swearing or violence... then they should apply the rule both ways, block

Same reason when Disney plus came out they started censoring movies that had been around longer than most people that worked there. Once they censored the butt crack on the movie Splash.. I dropped my subscription. I do not need someone censoring things for me, I will be the one in my household to determine if

Hell, meanwhile on Twitter, Musk is unbanning wannabe nazis, antivaxers, Qanon leaders, insurrectionists, antisemites and white supremacists, and here YouTube’s freaking out over some “bad words”.

“I'm sick of these monkey fighting snakes on this Monday to Friday plane" will always be the king.

The FSD seemed to cut lanes and brake.”

You should probably contact Tesla about that. Address your email to the address below:

Class. Working class vernacular = profanity. Words that demonstrate a university education = sophisticated. It wasn’t someone who decided anything. It’s a social phenomenon the emerges organically in any class-based society.

“Let that sink in”

Imagine being so delusional that when your eyes literally watch a car slam on its brakes coming to a complete halt with nothing in front of it, you suggest it “seems the car slowed to the speed limit.”

Move fast and break stuff brake abruptly

The speed limit there is zero?

LOL that’s funny and reminds me of the old TV redubs of bad language in movies. There is one I remember vividly even though I can’t remember the exact movie, some random teen comedy. Anyway the movie line was something like “I’m gonna puke all over the place” kid was in the back seat of a car. Anyway the word puke was

This is like the 8,716th time Youtube changed a policy that messed with creators in a negative way, and the 8,716th time creators kind of...made a little fuss about it but then well eventually go back to normal.

I think the most damning part is only alluded to here.

If your video is demonetized for violation of these rules, you will not be told why or how your video is in violation of the guidelines, only that it is. At that point you can edit your video and apply for re-review, still not knowing what was actually in
