The weirdest part about this is that commenters (and most of the internet) has been incredibly vocal about how unrealistic and difficult it would be for a 600-pound person to be an actor in this role... But the writers of some of these articles don’t even acknowledge that point. Pretty much every time someone says:

Hunter was an adult when he experienced weight gain — he says it was a period in his early 20s.

typing isn’t speaking. oh. you were trying to be insulting. Who is the one expressing hatred here?  Have a wonderful holiday.

Fatness is not an immutable characteristic, and therefore fat people are not a protected class under the law.  I can’t even imagine how such a law would be written, let alone enforced.

I’m obese so I’m allowed to state these facts.  It’s punching sideways.  Don’t assume my sexuality.

Welp, you can congratulate yourself on having an even worse take than the writer, so you at least have one thing going for you.

It’s not hate to acknowledge that being 600(!) lbs is a recipe for misery. It’s scientifically proven that weighing that much is a gigantic risk, both physically and emotionally.

And the complaint about the fat suit...yeah, the filmmakers should’ve just found someone who’s actually 600 pounds but has the stamina, mobility, and overall wellbeing to star in a feature film, and also has acting ability akin to Brendan Fraser. What could go wrong.

And they sure as hell didn’t need Fraser or any other actor pounding milkshakes to gain weight.

But I’m perfectly happy if we never make another movie about some fat fuck.

As an actual fat guy (300lbs at 6'2"), I feel like Rich sneering at “non-fat” people making a movie, when he himself is, if the internet is truthful, muscular and ripped as fuck (I’m impressed), is frankly a bit fucked up. Brendan was for many years a hell of a lot heavier than Rich is suggesting. He was obese even!

It’s not like Fraiser was a skinny guy when he made it, he was husky to say the least. The movie did not need to hire a 600 pound person for the movie.

This.

Anyone who blames "woke" people for their problems is kind of an asshole, that's what he's saying.

“Wokeness" is the new right wing fear tactic, though I highly doubt most of them could actually tell you what being "woke" actually means

Go broke, blame woke.

I hate that this is a consistently feasible marketing strategy.

You know, I had a long convo with a friend last year because we both played this game around the same time, where I was saying that I bounced because I felt this weird streak of conservative back-patting throughout. Like, the crazy rightwing conspiracy theorist is presented as mockable, but he’s also 100% correct in

The silver lining? A bunch of right wingers will now willingly buy and play a thoroughly mediocre game.

The most important thing about those 8 million copies sold is that they include copies that Sony literally gave away for free on Playstation Plus. Anyway, here’s how you screw up your super-cool and hardcore apocalypse game with a presumed attempt at a relatable main character.

LMAO. It’s hilarious how right wingers will contort themselves into pretzels to blame the “woke mob” for every failure of theirs.
