I actually thought Grave Encounters was pretty good. I mean this by the standards of horror movies streaming on Netflix, which is a low standard, but as far as those go I didn't regret watching it.

Night Vale guy here. I was just thinking recently about the time we were supposed to have Paul Scheer in a live show and then I fucked up the date and it didn't happen. I was pretty bummed about that.

I think it's actually one of his best books. It's very straight forward, so very unlike any of his others, but it's incredibly well-written.

I'm in the strange position where David Mitchell is one of my favorite writers, but I don't think Cloud Atlas is very good. It's probably my least favorite book by him, and it feels a little like a dumbed down version of what he already did with Ghostwritten. I also think Black Swan Green is one of his best books,

If you ever get the chance to see these guys live, take it. They put on a hell of a live show.

I liked that episode for the most part, but yeah that was 100% ironic racism. And the thing about ironic racism is it's still racism, and is especially uncomfortable coming from a bunch of white folks. The whole Wompler storyline is great, but that episode had some seriously misjudged moments.

Yeah, I'll completely admit that most of the podcasts I listen to are male-driven as well. Which isn't great either. The unfortunate reality is that most high profile podcasts are run by guys, a fact which is starting to change and hopefully that will continue. But picking a judging panel that wasn't 93% male would be

14 out of 15 of your judges are men. And 9 out of 10 of the podcasts chosen are entirely or primarily run by men. It's not a secret that podcasting has a gender problem, but way to step it up AV Club.

Oh, ok, I guess that provides the answer to my comment below, the answer being that the writer of the review doesn't know what Portuguese is.

"This is the band’s second album in a row to lean harder on new musical influences—Hütz lived in Brazil before recording Trans-Continental Hustle with Rick Rubin and sings in Spanish throughout the record."

Vultures are scavengers, not predators.

I disagree with the basic premise of this review, in that I think Joe Hill has always written in the exact same style as his father. Which is not a bad thing, necessarily, but given a blind reading of a Stephen King paragraph and a Joe Hill paragraph, I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference.

Hi, I co-write that show. Thanks for listening! The response we've been getting has been overwhelming for us.

Maybe the street musician makes an ok amount selling music on bandcamp. Maybe the musician plays for big tips at a fancy restaurant at night. Other sources of income are irrelevant to the simple, honest act of giving you free entertainment, and then passing the hat for you to pay if you choose.

Yes, they're for profit, but keep in mind that they give away all of
their content for free. So it's like a street musician passing the hat.
The street musician is also for profit, but there's nothing dishonest
about asking people to chip in a little if they've been enjoyed some
free entertainment.

And the annoying thing is that the music was generally good. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watc…  But it should have been an album instead of insulting theater and those who make it by pretending to "break all the rules" when really you just have no idea what you're doing.

This video http://www.youtube.com/watc… at about 25:30 has a clip from it so you can see for yourself. It also has a revealing quote from her co-writer saying "I'm not a theater person. I don't really like musicals or plays."

The musical Karen O wrote had really good music and was one of the worst pieces of theater I've ever seen. I wish she had just released a solo album instead of inflicting that show on the world. Incidentally she's never released the soundtrack so the only way to hear that music was to slog through the stupid fucking

Hi, I co-write that show. Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoy.
