I'm sorry for your loss, TV SUCKS is gonna be pretty sweet though

The Dean's not having the best week!

It normally does, but all the season 3 episodes became available for free a couple weeks after each one aired. Sort of like how South Park used to do it on their site pre-Hulu. They look like they're available til at at least mid-August.

If it helps, all of season three is available on Adult Swim's website right now for free.

I've been super bummed AVClub hasn't paid any attention to China. I got to animate for the 3rd season and it's depressing that 4chan and Twitter are the only places where there was any buzz about China.

Most exposure I had to it was walking by the owners having some of the dancers doing awkward muscle car photos outside the building.

Hahaha wow I didn't expect to see "Gold Diggers" on AVClub! I live like 3 blocks from there and I recently learned about the building behind it being used for Plan 9, but I had no idea it had even more history. I go to the Yummy Donuts next to that place like all the time.

Hahaha wow, I've walked by Delancey waaaay too many times to not notice it was used for Tom's Bistro. I don't know how I didn't notice the gigantic, weird looking Emerson College building directly next to it.

Or one of those rustic metal stars on a spot where a window probably would have looked nicer.

I kept thinking that every time Garry let go of the handles in that balloon, he'd just suddenly be AfterEffects-ed falling out.

Season 4 went painfully over-schedule as well. The writer of the season finale was complaining after everyone hated it, how she only had like 2 days to write it cuz they totally screwed themselves.

I was actually furious, literally breathing "goddamn it" at the screen when they showed the broadcast of Mayor Gunderson dying cuz I thought it meant we wouldn't see Bill Murray. I was totally wrong 30 seconds later.

Yeah, for some reason whenever Al Jean writes and episode, they always have a strange amount of breathing room. Another specific example would be "Lisa's Sax", the whole sax solo at the end was added to pad the episode. The "All in the Family" opener was also extended. It might be more that the episodes he pens

My favorite would probably be season 7. I'm a bit biased though since Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein are my favorite showrunners. I was listening to the commentaries for the first time in a long time and felt vindicated hearing the way they're so analytical about storytelling in the show.

One of my favorite animated movies! I watch it at least twice a year. The animation's amazing, and even the English redub is almost entirely great. Hell, almost all the female actors are the same in the French and English versions.

Just cuz the pilot was made separately from the rest of the season.

Those are just episodes Al Jean and Mike Reiss showran, which get a weird 3G production code for some reason. "The Springfield Files" and "Simpsonscalifragilisticexpialadohcious" are also outliers they made.

Looks like some well inked Flash animation with a shit-ton of compositing done in AfterEffects. If only anyone could do cel-paint these days, it's flat-out something studios don't do anymore since digital became the standard.

Yeah, I'm glad it's not the studio that did the shorts, their character designs and rudimentary Flash puppets are pretty meh. We can get ready for some high-octane-while-maintaining-the-80s-cartoon-aesthetic shit now
