I think the perfect example of a car improved by blacked out B-pillars is the Ford Tempo. The first generation looks kind of like a submarine with portholes as windows:

The current Tacoma is unique with the blacked out B-pillar. The double cab has it, while the access cab doesn’t. It doesn’t matter about the trim level, although the access cab isn’t available in the higher trims. It’s just a vinyl decal that could be peeled off, but it’s a strange design decision.
