To be fair, he put "Have a Cigar" that low because he thought it was hypocritical of Waters to write a song about awful money-grubbing record execs while stiffing Roy Harper on his fee.
I don't mind the format the way Wyman uses it — he acknowledges the arbitrariness of ranking the songs, even knocking songs up and down the list for reasons that have nothing to do with the musical quality (up for historical value, down for hypocrisy), and he uses the ranking format as a way to break up a longform…
Um. Are you sure you know what bootstrapping means?
Revisionist!
I thought it was "He who fathers with his face has forgotten the eyes of his kills."
If budget reasons were paramount, it should have been set in Prague. Or better yet, in a bankrupted self-storage warehouse.
The problem with The Shining is it changed King's purpose, and worse, made the central monster a bad guy from the start — and since Jack Torrance was an author substitute, I think King took it as a personal slight on some level.
There's an awful overlap between the worst of architectural writing and the worst of the logorrhoea you see "enhancing" the works in some art galleries. But, you know, I kind of enjoy reading it for the laughs and I can still enjoy great art and architecture even if it is attached to some fop's nocturnal emissions.

There were 5 armies weren't there? And a dragon?
Films that deserve to be criticised for whitewashing: Last Samurai, Ghost in the Shell, Aloha, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Earthsea.
It depends — I have always harboured a suspicion that Russell Crowe's phone throwing incident was fanned by a rival studio trying to block his path to an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind. Not that he deserved to win for that performance, but he was the odds-on favourite that year until that relentless campaign against him.…
Yeah, but the British merchant navy was a global entity. The fact that 1 in 4 crew were asian or african overall tells you nothing about the colour of sailors in the vessels that were working around the English Channel in May 1940.
What exactly is wrong with rhetorical questions?
Bootstrapping? Bruce Wayne inherited billions.
Worst birth ever.
Ma Baker was far from boring!
