I may get hit here but in general I enjoy watching Bill Maher and agree with a large chunk of what he says. I don’t like the Muslim stuff or the toxins/vaccine conspiracy theories and I would be distressed if a friend of mine wanted to date him but I think he is smart and his show hosts some good debate. As an aside,

Damn it! This always pisses me off! This article and its comments are full of judgements and labeling. Is this is what has become of the left?

This article proves Bill Maher’s point. I don’t always agree with him, and I detest Milo Yiannopoulous, but this all or nothing attitude is truly detrimental to the liberal cause. We cannot ever expect to defeat people like Yiannopoulos without exposing them and confronting them. Now, last week, Piers Morgan’s

Well at the very least we should familiarize ourselves with the specific tactics of the opposition and devise methods of delegitimizing/neutering those tactics. Familiarize ourselves with the statements and stats they cite, look them up and develop the a counter argument.

“Nominally liberal comedian Bill Maher.”

At what point though, can you disagree with everything someone says politically and even morally but admit they do have points about the far left always falling for the bait and responding with outrage? This Milo guy is a living breathing troll made flesh. But, there are a few points he makes that aren’t wrong about

Noticeably absent from this universally hilarious cohort of comedic targets: Trump and his entire administration, Breitbart, Republicans in general, cops, corporations—need I go on?

I’m backing Maher on this one. We need to pick our battles. And we need to open a dialogue with conservatives. Especially the young ones. It wont happen if we disenfranchise them. We dont have to agree and we can still call them out on their bullshit. Ignoring them is what got us here.

Exactly why you invite Milo on and rationally explain to the audience why his ideas are shit (not throw dog shit in his face or overturn cars). The point isn’t to convince Milo because he’s just a self proclaimed troll that’s in it for the exposure and to sell shit. I wonder if he even believes 1/2 his garbage.

Welp. If the people the likes of who populate this forum continue to influence the left, we will never win another election. You don’t learn. You lost to Trump. You didn’t learn. You will lose again. And again, you will not learn.

I actually think this segment was successful for the left because it further exposed how juvenile and one dimensional Milo is. The counter terrorist guy and Larry were taking turns reading him for filth and the audience definitely cheered harder for them than Milo. Milo was clearly outsmarted and even looked flustered

Someone needs to make a comprehensive post of who this guy is with a ton of links to him saying whatever it is he says that’s so monstrous, because my world is divided between people who love him and people who think he’s the reincarnation of Hitler, and seriously I’d never heard of him until like six months ago, and

No, he wasn’t greeted by protests. He was greeted by people rioting—starting fires, breaking things. It was embarrassing, even if you didn’t personally want to hear the guy speak. And that’s the point Maher was trying to make—you can’t be the side of tolerance if you’re going to react to viewpoints you don’t like by
