As I recall, the children were all born unexpectedly as part of a wave event of some kind (some of the mothers weren’t even pregnant), and Hargreeves adopted all the ones he could get his hands on. Very much a subversion of the standard trope, since Hargreeves was all about self-interest and didn’t even like the kids.

Then explain the point. Since the government is not acting here, how are Jones’ Constitutional rights relevant?  To what degree does the First Amendment affect private entities interacting with each other where the gov’t is not present?

Gosh, you sure showed me.  Yep.  Scathing witticism there.  I’m offline for a while, and that’s the stinging rebuke you have all lined up for me.  Good job.

It’s exhausting.

For me, remorse is a prerequisite for redemption.  And I’m not sure being a terminal asshole is actually a disease.

I’d say the Trump Administration.

Sam doesn’t generally reply in these situations, so I’ll speak on his behalf.:

And here I thought it was his brave heart!

Hey, let’s be fair here. There’s a lot of different people those guys don’t like.

“Aren’t you the dude who thinks liberals never defended free expression?”

“Um, I was specifically talking about progressives, not you, but I’m glad you have a healthy ego and think the sun rises and sets just for you.”

Burton was bemoaning that Jones’ constitutional rights are being violated by a corporation. My point is simply that PayPal is not the government and therefore the constitution doesn’t enter into it.

Gosh, what a thoughtful and well-stated argument.  Thanks for leading us all to the light.

I guess it needs to be explained to you: I was saying that you’re full of crap.  You apparently assume I’m a progressive because I think you’re an idiot.

Private platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, et al., have every right to refuse to do business with Jones.  When Facebook has officially become a government agency, then your First Amendment concerns will have some legitimacy.

. . . says the recording secretary of the Sandy Hook Denial Society.

These are all private platforms that are choosing to discontinue business with him. To the extent that there’s mob harassment, it’s a rational reaction to a public figure who is very pointedly courting controversy and seeks to provoke hostile reactions . . . so that he can appeal to his base and shill his products.
