It’s become kind of a thing, mostly because people get stuck on what they think a category is supposed to mean and don’t really have their mind open to variations. I have no idea how they do it now. If something isn’t already in place for adopted kids to track their genetic medical history, this might be a good time to put something together for them. It might need to be anonymized somehow, but it’s valuable information for the child.

That’s a very two dimensional way of looking at it. Social belonging is important, and there are plenty of spaces that will harbor and encourage assholery in any people who genuinely wanted to change but felt cast away.
