No one owes you the spot on the ground in front of them. You feel entitled to jump lines at theme parks too?

You don’t get to decide what’s better for other people at a show. And you must go to awful shows if that’s your impression of the front row.
From a lot of these comments it’s pretty clear that a lot of concert-goers feel entitled to push themselves up to the front of a crowd past all the people who got there earlier. Disturbing.
12-20 times as hard. Not twice. Your metaphor is inappropriate to the situation. And this artist clearly made WOC audience members uncomfortable as well, singled them out and pressured them to do things they didn’t want to do.
What about the artist after her? Doesn’t she deserve to have her biggest fans up front, not shoved to the back on the whim of a supporting act?
I’ve never even heard of her until now, so it’s likely she does a much different type of music than I would listen to. But would you really be okay if you spent 6-10 hours in line to be right up front to see an artist you’d been waiting for, only to have people who got there after the doors opened positioned in front…
If you were just providing the information to the OP that the concert was GA, then I apologize for reading more into your remark. But I read it as excusing the performer for damaging the experiences of the first-in-line people because they hadn’t paid more, which is why I responded as I did.
No, because you don’t seem to respect how diminished a person’s experience would be by being pushed to the back. Even second or third row makes for a vastly inferior show when the performer is good at what they do.
Second note....this was at a music festival?? So if she wasn’t the headliner, she just pushed all the non-woc who arrived early and stationed themselves for front row to see the headliner or other later acts back to the back with no regard for either their efforts or the best interests of the other musicians who would…
It’s ridiculous to call this “reverse racism”, but it completely bypasses the effort fans may have put in to be close to the stage. People at the front are there because they gave hours of their life to make it happen. Stomping on your hardcore fans to favor the ones who couldn’t be bothered to show up early is just…
I’m guessing you don’t do many front row concerts?
^^What VeggieTart said. I mean, I doubt I’d be in line for any artist with a reputation for doing things like this, but if I got to the venue at noon to guarantee my front row spot at a show starting at 9, you’re gonna need handcuffs and a very strong bouncer to get me away from that rail.
It’s just so productive of us to pick apart politicians for not achieving a minimum level of purity in who they accept money from. We certainly should be expecting them to act as we’re sure we would have in their situation, despite the fact that they in the past weren’t privy to the full depth and quality of…
Serious culture shock. I was 19 when I moved off base in Japan....to Mississippi. >_>
Same, mostly. I’m not so much boycotting Depp as I am boycotting projects where his abusive behaviour is minimized or excused. The producer had an opportunity to say “We didn’t know about this when we signed the contracts, and we’re very uncomfortable with what we saw on that video, but he’s done the job we hired…
So, I see the guy is 41 and probably should have known better, but I might have done this in my early to mid-twenties without having any clue it might offend anyone. I was raised on military bases, as sheltered as possible from slurs and stereotypes. I spent my twenties randomly finding out about blackface,…
I <3 Jessica Williams, but this isn’t enough to get me interested in the movie. I’m still waiting for them to acknowledge Depp’s domestic abuse. They don’t need to fire him, but they need to retract the statements they made to minimize his behaviour.
No. Sheltered white girl.
I wasn’t, until somewhere in my 20s. =\
I was in my early to mid-20s before I’d ever heard of it. There were also a whole lot of racial slurs that I never heard until my 20s. I guess some of us grow up sheltered against things like that.
