And Exactly how would you "HD remake" the static backgrounds? all of the game's art would have to be redone. It's not like the models where you can increase the resolution.

This looks like a port of the PSP version, optimized for PCs according to Square Enix. And of course that itself was a port of the DS version, which was a remake of Final Fantasy III for NES, originally released in 1990.
