YES! That’s what Americans on both sides sound like to me these days. Everyone calling for revolution and the destruction of the government as if they have any clue what they mean. The desire to burn it all to the ground is terrifying- you only think you want this because you have no idea what it actually looks like.

Uh, yeah, that’s the fucking point...

Not to mention the majority aren’t voting for Bernie (otherwise he’d be winning.) That gives me no cause to think that there would be enough popular support to wage a revolution. Instead this just comes off sounding like a temper tantrum that this particular political camp didn’t get their way.

It’s ultimately selfish. I get that it “hurts” to vote for somebody who you disagreed with on an issue that was very important to you. I’m sure President Trump and Justice Judy will never ever hurt your feelings.

Whenever I speak to Sanders voters who say they won’t vote for Clinton in the general, but would rather go third party knowing that it will almost certainly deliver a victory to the Republicans, I’m reminded of this conversation from the movie Argo. I’m not saying Hillary is a bad idea (I actually like her and voted

Right? Clinton and Sanders voted together 93% of the time they were both in the Senate:

But which war and how many wars? As hawkish as Clinton is, she isn’t a thin skinned man child who might end up with control of our nukes. If a vote for Clinton is a vote for war, a vote against Clinton might be a vote for chaos. Is a protest vote really more important to you than that?

It’s ridiculous. I voted for Bern in my primary, urged everyone I know and spoke to about politics to do the same. Sang his praises, did what I could. If he somehow wins the nom, fucking great, I’m ecstatic to vote for him. If he doesn’t, oh well, maybe in 4 or 8 years we’ll get a real progressive to lead the Dem

One million stars to you!
I keep commenting all over the damn place that politics is compromise and as a Sanders supporter I view Clinton as a fine compromise. Their platforms are nearly identical. Where they differ, her position is still better than Trump’s. She has experience up the wazoo and is hella politically

A vote for Trump is also a vote for war. A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Trump, basically. Stein won’t win, and voting for Stein steals votes from Clinton only. There are no would-be Trump voters who will say “Actually, he isn’t perfect, let me vote for Stein.” It’s all would-be Clinton voters who would then

It isn’t fear mongering. It is reality. If the past 6 years have showed you anything, it’s that SCOTUS is really the last branch left in the federal government that can cause real change. Congress has become a children’s day care center where a “good day” is one where nobody picks a fight with someone else such that

And what annoys me is that many of them really are too cowardly to deal with the outcome they’re seeking. As usual, Blacks and poor people will bear the brunt and do all of the hard work.

I’m a an actual registered Green Party member. Obviously, I’m not a big fan of big money politics. I’ll be voting for whomever is the Democratic nominee. Let’s be clear...I don’t fully agree with either o them. However, letting Trump or Cruz seat a minimum of one and possibly multiple Scotus justices is not an option

Obama didn’t blow anything up. He tested the waters. It was a politically savvy move to show that the Republicans are just tantruming and it’s working fine so far. Now, they could call his bluff and pass the nominee along but I think they’re going to wait to see how the primaries turn out and how the poll numbers

I question why these people are so certain there will be any kind of revolution—violent or otherwise. Two Bush presidencies weren’t enough to push the democratic party to be more progressive. Why do they think a Trump presidency would? The masses are pretty easy to keep quiet. The poor are working too hard and have

How is it “very clear” there will be war? A vote for Clinton is about 99% likely to be a vote for a continuation of the past 8 years. And those past 8 years, while not perfect and disappointing at times, are a fuckton of miles beyond better than what would have happened if we had continued another 8 years of W.

People who want to make sure they have an ideologically pure voting record at the expense of real people getting hurt by letting a Republican win really make my heart hurt.

Yeah, Susan, the idea is to progress without The Actual By God Blood-in-the-Streets Revolution. You want Trump picking some Supreme Court justices and pushing the entirety of progress back by a couple generations?

Making the perfect the enemy of the good is always a bad idea.

This is such a wildly privileged opinion. Real people will get hurt under Trump. SCOTUS will be changed. Laws will be passed. The military will be deployed, affecting people around the globe. I get that you want a different political system but this is the one we live in. Don’t throw others under the bus in your quest
