It's usually a sign of defensiveness and/or confusion. I was expecting the tail to come out after the first few frames as the dog got used to being made to pose for the photos but thinking about it more, they probably only did this every few weeks, so it probably wasn't enough exposure for the dog to become accustomed…

As many have said, this is nothing new. No shark jumping has taken place. My grandparents had an identical game when I was a kid in the 80s. It looked kind of like this but with blue and yellow beads.
By the time we have computers that you can really speak with as you would another human, we could be close to, if not already have, computers that can be controlled via some kind of brain computer interface. So, this might not ever be an issue.
