I'm a tech and I can say right now that there's no way this works. The green piece is specifically for running your mouse through a ps/2 port. That's because your mouse will revert, not because your ps/2 suddenly gained USB powers.

I use it on my treadmill all the time. It's awesome. I'm using Microsoft's built in speech recognition along with the add-on they supply that allows you to make macros. I have all my browser actions set up so "new tab," "close tab," "tab 4," "google reader," "next item," star item," "readability," etc. all work.
