Car hitches are rarely rated for Weight Distribution systems. WD and a Sway setup are pretty important if you want to maximize towing capacity. Manufacturers don’t point out that to hit their max towing numbers you need WD.

Towing is an art all to itself. When you tow with a car you have to realize that:

You should probably diversify, if I even believe you.
Surprising in only that most people don’t think about it, but a turbo diesel 3500 series chevrolet 12 passenger express van can tow. It can tow a LOT. 10.000lbs, only 3000lbs less than a diesel dually pickup truck can without using a gooseneck or 5th wheel.
looks like sergio is getting bored. having your CEO try to force mergers has got to be really bad for morale.
The spinning Ram off from Dodge in the 1st place always struck me kind of one of those “answers to a question no one asked” situations.
There’s a difference in what you COULD tow and what you CAN tow (in the sense that manufacturers will only allow for a certain limit). Not respecting this limit could potentially result in a void warranty. Oddly enough, in North America, towing limits are much lower than Europe...
If you have a new vehicle, always…
1st: What does it say about Marchionne that he is pessimistic about FCA’s long-term viability? Correct me if I’m wrong, but a CEO’s primary purpose is to make sure a company is successful in the long-term. He’s basically saying he can’t do his job, so Mary Barra should do it for him. Pathetic.
The Italian influence in Auburn Hills since it became FCA USA is hard to dismiss.
We come back to the simple fact that, while GM has a lot to offer FCA (long term survival), FCA has virtually nothing to offer GM that would be with the expense and hassle of a merger. Its a lopsided proposal, and pretty much everyone can see that.
Often when a company seeks a bear hug, like FCA, there some nasty crap going on behind closed doors. I’d be willing to venture a guess that FCA has some financial monkeyshines going on and they want to bury it all in a merger, rather than have it hit Parmalat style.
Reasons nobody wants Sergio:
Please not again. The stupid mergermania, brand overlap, and the subsequent badge engineering is what did the Big 3 in. Besides Jeep, I don’t know why GM would want to have Chrysler or Dodge in its portfolio. And Fiat? Please. Let these underperforming European guys solve their problems on their own without drowning…
That about covers it - nothing much to gain. Since Patrick used the term hooking up (and Sergio talked about forced hugs and shit the other week) - GM merging with FCA and taking on all their baggage because they really like Jeep would be a bit like that person with the savior complex (happens in both genders, really)…
Dear Sergio Marchionne ,
Fiat, with their Italian ownership and intertwined government connections, is, and will always be a runaway train. GM has been burned once and should stay very very far away from FCA.
