I think it’s more of a public statement than anything. Showing that citizens are willing to come together to embarrass/fight against corrupt politicians. Donating directly to the ACLU wouldn’t really be much of a message, as no one would know about it. Congressmen might blink if they saw citizens had raised millions…

A mother I knew suggested I treat my kiddos very very serious, like yearly hospitalizations now takes 3 daily medications serious asthma with unpasteurized honey. Honey. We didn’t do anymore playdates after that, I cannot abide stupid (and I doubt she vaccinated her kids). 

This really hits home to me. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and I have a hard time connecting to a lot of other parents - especially the dads.

He’s self-branded. He labeled himself as a “policy wonk” and by sheer repetition, people believed it over time. It’s the old “if you tell a lie often enough and keep repeating it, people start to believe it” deal.  

Paul Ryan’s reputation as the Republican’s “serious policy guy” seems to be entirely based on the fact that he wears a nice suit and takes himself very seriously. I think the fact that he still has the support of %36 of the entire population, and not just the support of 36 people, speaks volumes about the state of our education system.

The race to the water fountain after gym class was always intense. I feel you, I was always one of the first to get there and then had a ‘fuck you, I’m drinking here’ attitude once I was there.

I remember being thirsty *all the time* as a kid. The teacher would line us up at the water fountain and chant “1 2 3 that’s enough for me” and it was NEVER ENOUGH. Also “leave some for the fishes”, fuck the fishes, I’m thirsty!

I’ve been watching C-Span, and every time a Republican congressperson stops speaking, the following Democrat tells them exactly how many people in that Republican’s district will lose healthcare if this bill passes. It’s brilliant.

At that point what exactly are they even covering? What the actual fuck?

And yet the odds are they will retain control of congress after 2018 (most definitely the House). Between gerrymandering, voter suppression and general low turnout the Republicans will continue to control the majority of the levers of power.

Republicans are enemies of the American people. Period. Literally. Full Stop. They are domestic enemies and should be treated as such.
