Goku takes some getting used to, but that voice being Gohan also makes it 10 times worse.

You have the original series down pat pretty much but there hasn't really been an arc like that on Super really. Though usually the alien ends up dying somehow despite Goku trying to let them live.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Super in general but that arc wasn't great. Was getting really sick of Evil Goku/ Evil Supreme Kai giving the same monologue every episode about how mortals were impure trash or whatever.
