Hence why I said "something built in the last 10 years".

Dude, drive something that was built within the last 10 years. The modern 5,6,7 speed electronic slushboxes on current full size trucks are quite nice.

Go look at the specs, this thing dwarfs the Tacoma.

And actually, looking apples to apples, it's not much smaller than a Silverado. It's actually 5 inches taller in height, only 4 inches narrower total, and comparing crew cab to crew cab, it's only 5 inches shorter overall. If you want to go technical, A reg cab work truck in the Silverado line is 205 inches long,

So, by "pretty darn close" you mean a nearly 2 foot (22 inch) difference between a regular cab Taco and the shortest version of this truck? Even the LWB crew cab Tacoma is 4 inches shorter than the the shortest version of this Canyon/Colorado. And 16 inches shorter than the crew. Heightwise the Tacoma is 13 inches

No kidding. I own 7 manual tranny vehicles, and wouldn't touch a pickup with a clutch. Such a royal pain in the ass to get around in. Automatics in a truck are rock solid these days, it's not like you have to shift 12 times to keep it in the powerband.

No one likes driving a big rubbery gearbox with a heavy clutch on a floaty, disconnected truck.

It's what's on top of the hood, not under. IE: Pedestrians.

So, what exactly is this truck "small" compared to? The extended cab version of this truck is 4 inches longer than the longest variant of the Tacoma, the double cab, which comes in at 208 inches long. The Crew cab version of this platform that you have in this article comes in at 224.6 inches long. For a size

Ford called everyone that bought a manual gearbox equipped F150 in the past 15 years, both of them said that they didn't need to do a stick shift on the new truck.

You realize that is the "platinum" tailgate, correct? That's the tarted up, 50+k truck. The previous generation had the same style tailgate on that trim, and a "regular" tailgate for the rest of the trucks. I'm sure this won't be different.

Good call, how dare Ford think about the US market, where this truck has been the best selling vehicle for the past 30+ years and sold over 763,000 this year. Clearly a short-sighted strategy.

Trailbraking is laughing at you..

Now playing

You may want to go ahead and do that, or at least spend 25 seconds on google.

You *have* seen Smokey and the Bandit, right?

People tend to make a lot of Forest Gump jokes around you, don't they?

It's pretty hard to buy used cars if people don't buy new ones. Look at how stupid the used car market has gotten since 2008 for a pretty clear example of that.

Which is what most people do. On a 50+k luxury car it makes even more sense.

Bingo. I've done the same thing on the last couple of my vehicles. It gives you a nice bit of wiggle room.
