Un-deletes files? I beg to differ!
If the system truly is "unbreakable", then having the source code will do attackers no good. It's not some magical "We have the source, now we can generate the magical hack key!" stuff, it just lets them figure out vulnerabilities much more easily - something which I'm sure google have done themselves, to make the…
@fullerenedream: Indeed, however they shouldn't be. XP isn't "lightweight", it's "old", there's a big difference. Win7 actually runs snappier on a netbook, as does Ubuntu netbook remix, and both get better battery life.
@(Starman) 258, Brigadier-General of the FireWire Battalion: Indeed, but I'm not a fan of being overspecific when it's not necessary. If something's doing something nasty to a PC, I don't particularly care how it got in - the term "virus" will do.
@TheFu: Indeed it is. I should check out ruby, I love the idea of making something that other people can use without me having to poke them into it, and yet after working with PHP for but a short time I'm starting to despise it. Having said that, I should start using python, I already know I love that language :D
@Condalmo: I got that, it was the images. If you turn them off you can increase the speed 700%!
@timgray: As I said, name one. And no, getting in through an admin-level web browser doesn't count, just as it wouldn't count if you ran your browser as root under *nix. Security on any OS is nowhere near as bad as it as 10 years ago.
Woooooooo! Ready! Ready to FRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII...!
@timgray: Well I suppose you're using in-house tools developed in vb6, then? :)
@Condalmo: Yes it is, I can't get help either :(
@jr4594: @uneasy rhetoric: @matricks54: >_<
@sheepguy42: Name one widespread windows non-trojan horse virus. Actual Viruses are sooooo out of style, every modern OS has security features enough to defeat them.
@jetRink: There -are- widespread mac viruses, there just aren't enough people who do more than "Welp, to the apple store so they can fix it". (To be fair, I do believe purchasing a mac gives you free applestorage, and I do believe they're supposed to be decent, so that's ok)
@Condalmo: XP is judged to be 9 years old, and thus no longer worth fixing issues for.
Don't be silly, OS X is absolutely secure, and windows practically ships with viruses!
@Zach Man: So is Windows, though. Good 'ol patch tuesday.
@Gonzie: the "half a brain" bit.
@ericesque: Between 1 and 7.5 depending on how many times I've inputted the konami code.
@Brainy142: Oh, I don't mind the freezing, it happened twice throughout the 2 hour film, and otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.
I never had an issue with 720p content, and I recently watched a 1080p movie with only a little visual freezing (Which I can't be entirely sure wasn't the .mkv itself, standard res stuff sometimes does that too). I'm not running some sort of super-PC from mars, just a 2.2GHz C2D. Am I just lucky?
