I think there's one bit of analysis missing from the article. That's retailer pressure.

Two definites: Scribblenauts (late because of being in Europe) and Endless Ocean 2 (early because of being in Europe, probably).

I'd expected to see a lot more hate for this - but it's nice to see so many sane posts that understand what is happening.

That five trees/four trees line reminds me a lot of what you do with bonsai - it's about making the illusion of more with less. Same goes for origami and ikebana.
