It's true: the Colorado Rapids are the worst-run MLS club with its own soccer stadium (no, Dallas; no, Chicago). When you have NFL owners lording over super-empires (see: NE, COL, DAL) who don't give a shit, then you have a product not worth talking about.

This is probably the best article about what MLS should really do that I've read on this site — or any site. No "MLS SUX LOL" patronizing; no "US SOCCER CARTEL MLS KILL THEM ALL" hysteria, and most importantly no kissing up about how "MLS SYSTEM NUMBER ONE".

Don't forget the Sounders. You don't routinely outdraw twice as much as the next team and look at your squad and say, "Yeah, just having three stars is good enough." Fuck no.

As a fan of the sport since I can remember, of an MLS team since I was young, and of European football since I was pubescent, I know what's wrong with MLS.

It's more rooted in infrastructure. MLS would have to flip upside down (or cease to exist in some way) to allow it right now; the NASL and lower leagues (including MLS' semi-feeder league, USL-Pro) probably need promotion/relegation right now.

Do root for who you want to root for; even if MLS is seen by many as the Single-A to Europe's Major Leagues, roll with whomever gets your blood boiling. If you're screaming at the TV towards Aston Villa, or at the stadium towards the Dynamo, do it.

Not such a good look when said network was a Stanley Cup partner at the time. Yeah, screw the cup, right?
