I actually like the LINES of the VW better.

I'm 62, which, to some of you, will qualify me to comment. I love my second Cooper S, but only for two. What WE need is a four seater that's not huge, that can be entered with ease and adults can be seated upright both front and rear. I don't want to drive an SUV of any size, but would like to be able to pull myself

I'll second that. When I decided to replace my 2003 Cooper S, I almost got a Fiat Abarth. I still think it's a much tighter looking car than the newest MINIs. Ultimately, a 2013 S felt better to drive ... and that's what it's all about for me.

You don't suppose it had anything to do with the way her SUV was "parked", do you?

I vastly preferred the LOOKS of my '03 S to the '13 that I drive now. The only thing that jumps out at me here is that the taillights are too damn BIG, and the contours of the doors just arbitrary. Keep it as small as possible. If people want bloat ... I mean space, let them buy the Countryman.

Looks better suited to the excesses off Dubai ... or Vegas. My $.02

Mum's the word.

An SUV doesn't really have "handling" in any real sense, does it?

First, I'd have to fathom the appeal of the Evoke. It has all the function of a Bugeye bolted to a monster-truck chassis.

Must it really get larger. Give us a break here.

I would certainly respect anyone who felt compelled to withdraw from the race out of "respect" for the deceased and/or their survivors ... or out of fear, for that matter. But it wouldn't change anything. RIP, Allan.

That was a waste of bandwidth ...

Looks like a lot of fun ... in a LETHAL kind of way.

I prefer the looks of the 500 to the MINI too. That said, I just replaced my 2003 S with a 2013 Cooper S. Dynamics wins again, in my garage.

"You can't polish a turd. But you CAN cover it in glitter." Or in this case, carbonfibre. I heartily agree with your sentiment tho.

Don't forget, he's gonna take yer guns away, too. Sheeeeesh.

No. :-)

Meh. Real waste there gents. Burn up some gas, a tire and lots of oxygen.

I'm betting the fun is going to win out. I certainly hope so, anyway. :-)
