We do not have a large staff at the moment. The editor of The Slot recently departed. I—a staff writer who primarily writes Slot posts—have been busy taking care of my boyfriend in the hospital for a week while the rest of my colleagues produced a few Impeachment-related posts this week and last.

The guy had every right to be moved away from her. The airline had every right to move him to the baggage hold area. 

She can come sit by me. Or, even better, I’ll give up my seat to get the bigot away from her, and I’ll sit with her. We can chat for the duration of the trip. We can watch a movie together. We can exchange a pleasantry or two then mind our own businesses in peace. Whatever works best.

I agree with Kathy. I guess the flight attendant wanted to spare a girl travelling alone a confrontation but I would have liked her to say “sure sir, come to the front of the plane” then when he got up there, say “sir please alight the aircraft, we do not accept this racism on our flights”.

They’re certainly saying the quiet part out loud more and more since 2016.

He was probably concerned that her grace and intelligence would rub off.
