We traded my wife’s late 90's Cherokee for a lightly used ‘05 Liberty in ‘06. While I was never big on it’s styling - which is probably where a lot of the criticism comes from - it was a perfectly solid vehicle that got us where we needed to go with minimal maintenance. The v6 was sufficient for road trips and doing

I thought about mentioning the Liberty, but I wasn’t sure if it got as much hate as some of the other vehicles mentioned here. I don’t think it got much credit for being an interesting balance between an old school SUV and a modern crossover.

Had an 02 Liberty. It was great! Truly good off road, great for camping, had the rear glass that opened independent of the tailgate which allowed you to stck long things out the back without worrying everything would roll out

It’s almost as if different options are important to different people.

Have one more car than you actually need if you are going to DIY everything.

I dropped the pedal all the way to the floor

*sigh* Now I have the millionth reason I wish Bowie was still around. He’d have something witty to say, I’m sure. After all he shot the cover of The Man Who Sold the World, nearly 50 years ago.

It would be something.

Meh, that front end still looks terrible. Pass.

Same. Like are we talking vintage British wheels here? Or that new Tesla that arrives broken? And how was it resolved? Did he get a tow, or did a team of tiny elves come and fix it for him? I feel like Harry attracts helpful elf energy.

Specialized and Trek both have some fantastic offering, and Specialized is arguably the benchmark for innovation. For my purposes getting around the bay and Portland with something comfy that has room for laptop / groceries, I was probably going to get a Giant.

The dark brown leather looks really great. Make sure you keep your driver’s seat well conditioned or the bolstering is going to wrinkle like an 80 year old smoker. I’m jealous of those AC seats...

Did the same a little over a year ago, 2018 with 8k miles. Got it for 16k less than the sticker that was still in the glovebox.

I’m still mad about the Nissan IDX

That is also how I feel, but in the nicer newer cars you are only getting an approximation of a manual anyway.

The 6 speed auto in my Escape was adequate at best. It did bare minimum of converting engine power into movement. It shifted at odd times, occasionally held gears too long, and was slower to downshift than any 4 speed auto I had ever driven.

Full-face helmets are great, IMO.

Hey Pal!
