We also need to move away from NG power as well. There’s breakthroughs in solar power in labs that we need to scale up to production that could be used on homes to lower the grid reliance on having as many powerplants.  Additionally, I'm a huge proponent of thorium salt reactors.

Your maths seem to conveniently ignore the methane released from oil extraction. You know, the stuff that is 30 times worse than CO2.

I buy electricity from all renewable sources for an extra 0.3 cents per kWh. I feel just guilt free in punching my Model 3 Performance from 0-“don’t arrest me”.

Maybe I got it wrong, but for the Tesla you are basically accounting the co2 for the power from the moment the electricity was produced, right?
That seems difficult to follow for fuel, we cannot factor in the extraction of oil from the ground, since we didn’t account for the co2 used for removing coal from the earth in

It seems you’ve missed the news that the Navajo coal plant had been shut down. As have many coal plants. You’ve also missed the part where many EV owners have solar panels. And you’ve missed the part where the navajo nation and LA county are planning the deployment of wind and solar in place of the shuttered coal

The fact is tesla’s are ready to go 100% renewable. How is a prius going to do that trick?
The problem is us in not pushing renewables enough. You can’t blame tesla for our laziness.

Oh fuck off, troll.

Curt,

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Actually not really. Keep howling at the moon one day it will matter. Actually it will never matter I take that back too. Have a nice day.

The Team Tesla guys just hate to talk about the grid carbon and the battery carbon”

Which in turn will emit 200 trillion less CO2 over the life of the vehicle compared to a conventional vehicle.

So much effort writing a comment no one will ever take seriously.

You forget the wars in the Middle East, transportation of oil across the sea, cleaning up spills from ships, trucks, pipelines, etc.. A battery can be reused, burned oil cannot. Then you forget about solar. Your math is off.

So what you’re saying is, it’s important to shut down coal power? Yeah, i agree.

Tesla is good. Management sucks.

Compared to the constant drilling, global shipping, refinement, transport to gas stations and eventual burning of the fuel that ICE cars will need to run through their engines forever? That’s not even taking into consideration the other oils and coolants that constantly need replacing in tractor-technology cars. Yes,

Yes. Comments peppered throughout the story, like “god complex” and “...dumbass assembly line in a tent” is really positive sounding.

Your second “point” is idiotic and very much refuted by actual data. Nice one, MAGA.

As opposed to how much CO2 is released in the production and burning of gasoline.

You guys really are incapable of writing a positive...or even lukewarm...article about Tesla aren’t you?
