Damn fine writing and acting. I saw Jimmy's strategy coming from a mile off and yet, that courtroom scene was every bit as impactful as I could have imagined. Built up and executed perfectly. Every character beat between Jimmy and Chuck over the course of the series culminated beautifully into an authentic and

I had a gin phase in college. It came between my White Russian and Jack and Coke phases. I got over it.
It's interesting that the article is calling Bols barrel-aged gin "truly unique," because it seems like a lot of craft distilleries have jumped on that particular wagon — I've seen barrel aged gins on the shelf from

That's a good question. I suppose you could cut your tonic with soda and get the desired effect.
I do see a lot of over-priced "hand-mixed artisan" tonics in stores lately. I wonder if they might tone the sugar down a little. I don't know, because I'm not about to pay 4.50 for a 200 ml bottle of hipster tonic water.

and how nouveaux riche is it that he can't turn down a free trip to Dubai? I mean, shit, he's a millionaire many times over. Whether a trip to Dubai is free shouldn't mean a thing.

Well, Martin himself has admitted he can't do two things at a time. He doesn't write when he travels, he doesn't write in hotels, he doesn't write at cons, he doesn't write unless he has long uninterrupted periods of time at home, which never happens now that he's popular.

Actually, I just ran into an article in the Washington Post that quotes Martin from 2014 apologizing for his slow writing pace when the HBO series overtook the books:

He's made something bigger than himself, and people care about it. That's something to be proud of.

That is the bright side. At least I get an ending to the five books that I sunk a fair amount of time into over the last couple decades. But yeah, I'm not going to read the second-to-last book of an seven-book series just to have the final book never be published, because fuck that.
I guess Martin has said that

True, and about 6 months after the estate changes its mind, Brandon Sanderson will be there with a totally serviceable conclusion to the series.

I didn't realize Martin said that, but yeah, sure enough, there it is. He's said that he's given instructions that his manuscripts and notes will be destroyed when he passes. I wonder if that's just one big f-u to the people who have been griping about his writing pace.
Well, you've convinced me, I'm not going to

That, I think, is spot on. I wonder if he really intends to finish it.

Yeah, particularly when thousands of those pages were written decades ago. Makes it hard to remember. It's almost like he should have some fact-checkers to do some of that work for him… oh wait…. http://www.businessinsider….
I dunno if George has demonstrated to us that he can do more than one thing at a time. I'd

Cool how Martin is involved in two(!) tv projects that are in development and still hasn't released an estimated publication date for Winds of Winter.

And Legion did interesting things with storytelling and character development. Definitely my favorite Marvel TV adaptation. Is it MCU, though? Or is it standalone, like X-Men and Deadpool?

Huzzah! I will no longer risk getting scurvy with my McDonalds-only diet!
A round of lime wedges for everyone!

Too much speed.

the episode isn't worth the effort of putting together a review. The review itself is perfectly fine.

That would be ambitious and original, and it's a great pitch. Which is exactly why it won't happen. This show just seems content to wallow in mediocrity.

I gave up on this show awhile ago. Season 1, I enjoyed - it's one of the few DC properties that was actually watchable. Season 2 started getting "meh" for me, and now, I just don't get how the current characters and storylines can manage to fill out 20+ episode seasons. Fatigue sets in pretty quickly.
At this point,

A better rhetorical question would be "The AVClub reviews another Flash episode. Is it worth it? (It's not.)."
