I can see why. It was a lot of fun.

For me parts 6, 10 and 12 were the toughest to get through.

He should end up with Freddie. They'd make a cute couple.

James is a character whose story was 100% over by the last of season 2 They could have easily let him stay in the past. Instead he's back and had a few bits, and Lynch has used Marshall's talents well (which wasn't what the show itself did all that often for me). It's not a big role but it's a decent one.

That's great. Never thought I'd see that happen.

I still can't get over how damn good Grace Zabriskie was in that scene last night. None of that would have worked without her being at her best. Truly one of the best performances I've ever seen on television.

To me that goes a bit further, especially the look on her face in the scene. There's something disturbing in it - the calmness is very similar to the end of the bar scene.

I know a lot of fans would hope for that. I can see there being a lot of deleted scenes stored away.

I think it's because they probably felt it was not something needed for oncamera as it's likely a throwaway plot device role. I think he also decided the lengthy talking was a way to show some insight into James as well.

Yes. I liked that bit. You don't get that on TV very often.

That and his job with Ben not working out (thank goodness they ended that story…). I guess Shelly must have gotten pregnant not long after they got back together and that with his father dying made him grow up. It's good that they are playing up some of the bittersweet but happy childhood memories and not just angst

I agree about the James and glove guy scene, but I don't think they ever planned Chad's exposure to be a big moment. I think he was always supposed to be a loser everyone hated and saw through who would then be dumped. I think the letter scene was more about trying to convince us that Richard had gotten away with

I hadn't thought of that until a few people mentioned it. How sad. And likely true. I hope Chad dies for his sins so that Naido can live.

Yes. One of the few times the Internet hasn't ruined a show for me (not yet anyway). Coming on and seeing responses is a big part of it for me.

I think she's still good at heart. I hope they have a chance.

Dougie where were you this week? Don't let the 'haters' get you down.

Ever since they've been showing her happiness I've kept thinking she would die. I'm not sure what Diane's role will be but this does make sense. I do hope it won't be a romantic connection though.

I think he's sad about being so alone (especially on a birthday) but he seems to be content with his life. It was an honest contrast to all the usual melodrama you get with TV characters who are unhappy with a part of their life. Or with the melodramatic James of seasons 1 and 2.

I guess it's fitting they had this in the episode that was a homage to one of his goofiest moments (the howling in the jail cell).
