That whole bit threw me because I'd heard so many fans talking about how Andy had been so dumbed down (to me he'd always been written as pretty dumb). This seemed like a different person.

She was complaining about only Kyle getting good treatment or something. This was last fall. Some thought she may have meant press - I don't know. To be honest she has seemed unhappy on social media more than a few times so I sort of handwave it at this point.

Naomi Watts is terrific here. What I like about Janey is that she's a challenging character, because the people who so easily just dismiss her as a shrew are unintentionally showcasing their own ease with stereotyping. Janey has to put up with a lot from Dougie, and she makes her feelings clear, but she stands up for

I don't see the acts as being that similar (aside from being pretty white people). The Cactus Blossoms were so Everly Brothers while the others were more rock or alternative. I think they've done a decent job breaking up the monotony, as this is the second episode that doesn't have a band in the credits.

In the book there are pages removed. I think Laura may at one point in the diary reference this, or at least reference that she knows someone is reading her diary.

Laura Dern was fantastic in her faceoff scene with bad Cooper. I was expecting to not like this casting, or even seeing Diane, because on a show that is not all that fan service, a beloved Lynch actress as one of the most iconic female characters in Twin Peaks history - it almost felt too easy, but it has all worked.

Yes. That's the thing which keeps appearing. It was in jail with Matthew Lillard too. I'm starting to think it's Briggs as a spirit.

Either that or she has some kinks we aren't getting even on Showtime…

I had a good laugh when I saw some people raging on Twitter about that (and about the show being "Shrill Wives" even though this episode had little of that). I think Lynch is just trolling with some people, maybe because he remembers how eagerly some fans turned against TP in the first place.

Oh I forgot about that - I zoned out of a lot of late season 2. Now I'm even more curious…

If a woman is trying to hook up with a man while he mostly wants to urinate, then I would say it's desperate.

I think if Ontkean didn't participate he may have done so for reasons Lynch understands as they've taken a lot of care in explaining why he isn't there and also continuing to make Harry important. The scene where Frank learned his brother probably had cancer was extremely moving. I was also moved by his conversation

Other than that desperate woman at work the only other woman beyond his wife (who seems used to doing everything for him) was a prostitute.

I thought that was a pretty interesting scene, both in the sexual chemistry and in building up a supernatural element, although I'll always be skeeved out by Ben Horne (even though Richard Beymer remains charming and has aged well - he looks like Tim Gunn even though he's about 15 years older). After hearing someone

Oh I remember that now. I think that was the only time we saw him too (wasn't it?) so that was even worse because you saw just what Elliot had had to put up with and why he'd tried to find a family at the hospital, to no avail.

I imagine resentment may have been part of it, but the show also had a pretty bleak outlook much of the time from season 2 on. They also had a lot of moments of humor and heart but when Fontana/Masius swung in the gallows they swung very hard and toward the end of their run it had become very much dark comedy. It

There was often a cruelty underneath the warmer moments and characters of the show, sometimes acknowledged by the show, sometimes not (the whole way that Cathy Martin and Shirley were treated in the Peter White rapist storyline is a prime example). I guess they were trying to make a point with the way Axelrod was

And through reading about this I just found out Sagan Lewis, one of my favorite St. Elsewhere supporting actors as the wry and warm Jackie Wade, passed away last year. I guess I should use this to say rest in peace to her as well…

Ah, Elliot. It always makes me sad to see St. Elsewhere actors go as that was probably my favorite TV show of all time. They never seemed to know what to do with Elliot or with Furst's talents, although the Mrs. Hufnagel arc was touching. I remember a particularly annoying storyline with Helen Rosenthal's

I agree about the first season. The second season felt so manufactured when it tried to keep that vibe going. That's why I'm glad they have not tried a third time.
