current WRC cars use air to cool them down, and in most of the cases, they force air to flow into the brakes to make cooling more effective. Once the braking system cools down, the hot air accumulates in the wheel spaces and under the car, which then has to be removed.
To be fair the last time a WRC spec car was rallying in the USA was only in 2019.
