I think there's a cultural difference tho - people really aren't as critical about foreign movies here* (that I've found). No one seems to care that Transformers or whatever isn't actually good.

Tian Jing. <deleted> many poor taste jokes about how I also have something for Tian Jing </deleted>

Ultimatum is honestly, terrible. Or maybe I'm just hyper critical of any media that has the Chinese as bad guys just does a really piss poor job of it. (Bear and the Dragon being the other major one)

Just as long as it isn't "The Bear and the Dragon" because that book is the largest pile of garbage I've ever read.

Does Infernal Affairs deserve only a one sentence acknowledgement? I guess it's not REALLY an action movie, much more of a mob/police drama with a few action moments. But man, it is still a great movie.

It really depends on what the definition of "Communist" is really. I would suggest that having that one party rule be by "The Communist Party," a strong attempt to still have 5-year economic plans (however much the actual economy ignores those plans). A lot of heavy industry is still run by State Owned Enterprises -

In terms of equality of incomes and shared responsibility and collective farming/working and a dictatorship of the proletariat, no, not in the least.

You could randomly find copies around Oakland/SF and I would stumble upon them when I was in college and be extremely confused.

I would say I hate being the "well, actually" guy - but I kind of like it, but this is just sharing my personal experience. What about House PARTY II ? /thinkingemoji

Asian Dawn?

You guys got a Soros branded knife? Man, my liberal package sucks.

An actual plot point on Silicon Valley

You reach down and flip the tortoise over on its back, apples.

A black butler even!

Your experience and mine are very similar. But I also remember the "but I'm feeling much better now" jokes.

Night Court . . .and Top Secret!

I think Night Court is the only long running sitcom i've seen every episode of. With syndication it was on TWICE an night, five nights a week - I was always finishing homework at 11/11.30.

I had a different set (tauntaun and Leia/Han in Hoth gear hugging featured prominently) - and I used them all the way through the end of high school so that just about matches your timeline (1979 - 1992)

Apparently, my parents made the brilliant decision to bring me to my first movie (it is my favorite and most seen movie) at age 3. According to my mom, I just pointed to the exit sign and kept saying "EXIT" over and over and I would suppose missed most of the movie. I did remember lining up for Empire and I can't
