It’s not a small price freeze either. NES games were $50. That is a 20% increase over 35 years. If VGs followed the standard inflation rate a game would cost $126. Meanwhile the business costs associated with the development process have followed more closely the inflation rate. I am amazed that games are only $60.

The REAL problem is that the price of games has held steady at $60 despite inflation and the rising cost of game development. $60 is pretty expensive to begin with, so it’s hard to imagine that changing, but this is unsustainable!

The thing is, games dont need to be so expensive to make. We have seen time and time again, smaller studios putting out games for a fraction of what bigger studios spend. Its a problem of management, and they are passing on the problem to the consumer instead of just fixing it.

But that is still ok, demand for 500,000 cars drive up prices for ALL cars, new and used, (IE there will now be less used cars for sale so supply/demand sends car prices up, and when they get closer to new car prices, many people just go new)
