@MehStrongBadMeh: No. I don't think so. They are giving their enhancements to it. You can certainly remove them, at least with HTC. Buy the phones from brands that interfere less if this really annoys you.

There is nothing in my HTC Desire that I cannot delete. I can use another Home Screen, remove apps and find a default action for each button. WITHOUT having to root or do anything to the Device. Clearly, its full MultiTask, so the user can bloat the phone, just like any other WIN/MAC/LINUX/BSD system.
