Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was defending her (she has a disease that limits her ability to sweat / make tears, it’s part of why she’s had to limit her tennis playing), but I think I may have been too sarcastic.

he was snorting cocaine or meth or something in the toilet. that was not “road rage”, that was some drug-fueled paranoia and delerium.

There are rules about “clearing the box” which apparently come into play - but if you can’t, then people are not supposed to run smack into you - obviously.

Because the direction that the couple were traveling had the green light as witnessed by the other cars moving right to left. The initial conclusion was that Venus crossed a red and got hit. The couple caught the light turning green while still st speed and could not see Venus, who was still in the intersection while

I absolutely agree. It was a traffic accident. Even if she’d been completely at fault, every single driver has done at least one dumb thing that could have killed someone but for luck.

“Clearing the intersection” on a left-turn is my favorite driving maneuver so I knew immediately she wasn’t culpable. When the light turns yellow it’s your signal to enter the intersection, then when the oncoming cars stop you make your left turn. I sometimes practice traffic and accident law.

I agree with your main point, but the Nissan Altima was going left on a green, or so it would appear. The real problem here, imo, is the seemingly 1/4 mile wide intersection created by the perpendicular road being a divided highway.

If they didn’t have the footage when making ths original assessment then it would have been determined based on witness statements which probably went “They had a green light” with no context as to how Venus’ vehicle was in the intersection.

Really looking forward to all the people who called her a killer in the last thread rushing in here to fall on their swords. One thing you can count on, it’s internet people who were motivated ONLY by their concern for traffic safety issuing heartfelt mea culpas and vowing to learn from their mistakes.

For most tennis players, the first fault isn’t usually a problem. Now, if this reopened investigation also concludes that Williams caused the accident, that would be a double fault, and the advantage in the case goes to her opponent.

There’s a call to support Two Vegan Sistahs which is black-owned.

I think Taylor reeaaally didn’t want to be Marie Antoinette while 45 is burning the rest of us to the ground

It DOES NOT feel like it’s only been one year since Hiddleswift. Not even a year since that stunt continued for a couple of months after that. It seems more like five years. Maybe more.

Good news for Jeremy Irons who’s one step closer to his dream of being able to marry his son or somesuch

But the other driver also clearly wasn’t paying attention if they were trying to go through a red light as Venus was going through an intersection.

But she doesn’t. She uses backing tracks, usually she doesn’t even bother lip syncing while they run.

Acoustics are a large part of it though. That broadway stage has great acoustics so that she can not only hear herself but the orchestra (and her audience is quiet unlike at a pop concert where they are screaming and singing along).

You’re conflating percentage of the overall numbers with percentage of the year class, and it’s confusing. Of course, the Academy promotion is misleading on purpose.

The more interesting story here is the full context of the Halsey quote, in which she tries to swerve around a tough question regarding being a “socially conscious artist” while featuring the homophobic Migos on her album:
