You really have this impression ? From the titles mentioned, it seems to be about genuinely good (and, as such, less straightforward derivative) horror movies. It’s mostly just my recent favorites. Hence, precisely, my impression that it just mean “quality horror movies”.

Quino. He died. I’m sad. He was a genius. I wasn’t too fond of Mafalda, but his social, philosophical, satirical comic were delightful, witty, profound, touching, intelligent. And so extraordinarily expressive in style.
