I really feel like you should have included at least one type of non-black WOC Becky. There is always THAT one non-black, non-white woman who will defend white supremacy and uphold it at all costs just to feel superior over black people.
This isn’t censorship, this is one guy trying to defend a bad joke that has no basis in the original text. It even says outright that the original name is a pun on light switches. What in the hell do light switches have to do with a radicalized Christian terrorist group?
I would like to remind everyone that this is not censorship and that Playtonic as a private business has the right to express itself as they see fit. If they do not wish to include voice work by a controversial figure in their video game that is well within their right. Jon’s free speech was not violated in any way…
I’ll assume you’re commenting in good faith despite your use of an awful buzzword like “identity politics,” so consider this: Lots of girls are taught that video games and game development are for men. Girls Make Games is an institution designed to teach girls that hey, they can play and make video games too, which…
Thank you.
It seems like so many folks are just looking for someone to blame that they completely miss the fact that game production, like pretty much everything else these days (with few exceptions) is generally a team effort. Singling out one person upon which to focus ire evinces only the ignorance of the irate…
Wasn’t it also a problem for a Nintendo Treehouse employee? Everyone blamed her despite the fact that she wasn’t even involved in the translation and localization (aka censoring) of the game. She was actually in favor of keeping them as is, due to the Japanese culture... based on her social media.
I don’t expect everyone to have intimate knowledge of the workings of AAA video games, but come on — Mass Effect Andromeda was made by hundreds of people. Do you really think ONE person was responsible for all the animations? Subpar animation work can be the result of so so so many factors, including technology…
Who hurt you?
That’s a ton of salt there, don’t you think?
You ok?
Breaking News: Racist Invites Racist Onto His Television Show.
Satisfied with the slicing and dicing, yeah; the rice left a lot to be desired.
No one said he’s not allowed to voice his opinion, just pointing out how it’s dumb and bad and irrelevant. That’s what happens when you say dumb and bad things. People point them out.
more like failord
Not to mention that slur has been used by black people on other black people. So, this whole, “She can’t be racist. She’s black!” is a bit mute.
An Oreo is also offensive slang for a black person who is “white on the inside.” Usually reserved for someone who “acts white”, but even people who are part white get called this.
I think they were upset tha the BLM sign was removed so it wouldn’t be seen on the show. They also state BLM Portland also meets there regularly, and are also reminding people of the historic racism of the Oregon and Portland in particular. Oregon was formed to be a “white utopia”
