The reason for success is that they were manufactured there (Nigeria, until 2005!), affordable and of good quality. No special ingredients in the car per se. With the years, it became an icon:

People in Africa used Peugeot 504s to cross the Sahara desert for decades.
Do you know is Sygic will be compatible?
I know. Sad (as Trump would say). But! Lamborghini premiered the Aventador SVJ to the press today, on the Estoril.
This video, even if in Italian, is great. The journalist is also a passionate racing diver. On the track from 7:30 onwards:
Ok, today Ferrari announces its SUV, now this. All is lost.
Let’s go play table tennis and pretend that motorsport in the 60s never happened.
Sure, Brooklands oval mimicked horse racing racetracks when ICE were still not widespread, also, was an airport; luckily modernity ensued (at least in Europe) and places like Donington, Brands Hatch or Silverstone followed.
Only in USA people consider paved oval racing (because dirt ovals may be actually quite funny) something worth watching for more than 10 minutes. Get over it.
I’d remove every warning sign.
When a crash is detected (a simple sensor on the upper crashbar will do) a sign should lighten up on the other side of the underpass: “surprise maddafaka!”
Think of the virals.
Next time you are here, if you want roads where speed limits are a mild suggestion and there are almost no bikers, come in Abruzzo, especially in the area of Campo Imperatore, during the week.
Horacio Pagani tested the Zonda there for a reason ;)
Here’s a nice video filmed in that area, from a local test driver, subbed…
Not the mountain roads. The road from Positano to Amalfi.
It becomes a single lane (from Sorrento to Positano it’s much wider.... yes I said MUCH). And you find 15 meter buses coming at you, behind tight bends with VERY low walls protecting you from a 200m cliff...
He’s from Chieti, Italy. Raised in Canada.
Impressive. I live not far from Arese, is the museum open to the public?
The latter is wonderful. But the rollbar ruins it (I know, crash test compliance and all...)
I’ve seen it. It’s mindblowing. I’ve been a passenger of racing pilots on chipped 911 turbos but this is another sport.
I held a Jahreskarte for three years and was a regular visitor of the Nordschleife from 2005 to 2009. My fastest BTG was a tad over 8 minutes with a rented BMW 135i, so I’m not exactly a natural born pilot, even if I know well the track . Still, if yu’re lapping under 8'30" there are scary parts for a normal person…
No need to worry, Trump has a big experience in bankruptcy.
“the greatest beach car design ever”... uhm... no. This is.
(photo taken by me in Capri, 2016)
This is an old video, filmed in Sicily or Calabria, given the accent of the guy who’s talking. Still, not more painful to watch than this other famous (very old) video featuring an old man revving (because, clutch) his car...
The boys filming are being jerks, agreed.
Technically, you are absolutely right.
But ICEs will cease to exist, at least for private cars, because of anti-pollution laws and an easy-to-blame industry. Here in Europe we are shooting ourselves in our feet by banning diesel engines, blamed for PM2.5 and PM10 particle emissions, when in fact the majority of such…
