one of the trolls has the same not particularly common name as someone I went to school with. Maybe this is what he’s been up to since graduation.

It’s International Dog Day or something, so my newsfeed is filled with this story (I’m from VA) and cute photos of people with their doggies.

Fuck. Cue the think pieces and the commenters with their dictionaries letting us all know the exact definition of “thug”.

This is my overwhelming fear. It hits so hard when it happens, every time no matter where, and I constantly wonder when it’s going to be my hometown, my friends, my family.

I hate that the entire genre of talent shows. They are all exactly the same.

I had a back up of podcasts and finally got around to listening to Serial recently. My dissertation is due next Tuesday (OMG) and I’m plying myself with episodes to get through writing.

I immediately thought of this scene from Bling Ring.

I was reading about this costume on another site and apparently it’s listed as “unisex” but also only appears on the men’s humor page. I think it’s a transphobic jab.

I will now wait for this to appear in my newsfeed from one of three relatives. Sigh.

It was a really fun and educational month. Everyone was so enthusiastic and they helped me study for exams during tea breaks. I am a library science student, so I was more doing things like learning to use content management systems, cataloging, and answering reference (family history mostly) queries.

I don’t mean to paint anyone in a bad light. They had a tiny staff and a small budget and were just doing their best and helping me learn instead of staying stressed constantly.

It was staffed by three people with a super limited budget (the library wasn’t seen as a moneymaker and the org presidents cared more about making sure their portraits were displayed). I think they were just doing their best to keep everything together and utilize volunteers where possible until money came in to

Admittedly, it is really fun to touch everything, especially when it’s been well restored and you don’t feel like it’s going to disintegrate if you cough. The most expensive thing in the collection was one of the original Audubon Birds of North America, but that was thankfully locked away under glass. I can’t say that
