Good point.
Good point.
Unless he played for your team, it’s easy to forget about him entirely. The ONLY thing I remember about Carlos Beltran is that he played for the Mets (I think). That picture of him in a Mets uniform could be ‘fake news’.
Could this possibly be tied in with brain damage? The symptoms you describe are exactly like the symptoms of athletes who have had multiple or severe concussions.
What about the Thanksgiving games? Should we do away with them too? It’s not like anybody is being asked to play multiple times on a Thursday. So how is showing up once a season to play a Thursday night game any different than showing up once a season to play a Thanksgiving game?
That’s embarrassing.
I feel extremely bad for players in the past who didn’t know any better and were lied to about the severity of their injuries. There is no way they could make a conscious, informed decision as to what to do next. But that’s not the case now. There is no way that a player today doesn’t know about the effects of brain…
I guess it’s because I’m older. I did see the Phils division champions of the mid to late 70's. I did see Steve Carlton pitch. More times than I ever saw Roy Halladay. I did see Tug McGraw pitch. More times than I ever saw Roy Halladay. I remember 1980. I remember the Wheeze Kids in 1983. I rember the magic of ‘93…
On the one hand, I feel really bad for the guy. He tried to do something good and it blew up in his face. On the other hand, how can you be so stupid to get yourself involved in something where you have to sell your house to get out of it?
Didn’t they draw the Bruce Willis character with too much hair?

Wade Phillips is a genius defensive coordinator. A lousy head coach but an awesome d-coordinator.
The answer is obvious. He didn’t ‘worm’ his way out of jury duty. He was dismissed because his presence there was causing a commotion and things are going to move much smoother without him. And even if he were to make it into a court room, one of the lawyers (or maybe both) will dismiss him.
What kind of lawyer takes a case like this? “OK, let me see if I have this straight. Your husband is dead. You were not under suspicion AT ALL in causing his death. And just because you ran into a couple of cops, you confessed EVERYTHING to them without any prompting at all? OK then, sign me up!”
Say it isn’t so! ‘Hey Now’ Hank Kingsley is a sexual harasser? When is it going to end?
Halladay should have laid his hands upon both Embiid and Fultz. It’s a miracle!
Did Reggie White mean more to Green Bay than he did to Philly? Didn’t it feel kind of shitty to see White wearing a Packer’s jersey in every memorial? And wasn’t it a bold slap in the face for White to go into the HOF as a Packer? I can empathize with the Jays’ fans today.
So why don’t they just start Webb for the rest of the season?
People are so stupid. They’ll commit crimes and take pictures of themselves doing it. Didn’t take long for that jury to come in with the guilty verdict. People will engage in all kinds of wrongdoing and keep written documentation about it. “Yea, he’ll/she’ll NEVER think to look at my e-mails/texts.”
I hate when it does that.
Sad, but so typical.
At least he died doing what he wanted to do. How many of us get that chance?
