My 86-year old Jewish mother would beat me with her cane if she saw “Latke Starter” in my kitchen.
WHO makes its recommendations across the board, attempting to cover needs and recommendations appropriate for all countries, both those where children are, overall, provided sufficient nutrition, and those where disease and malnutrition are a present and significant issue. The focus (and the country profiles created…
That’s nice, how do the WHO plan on guaranteeing every woman 2 years’ supply post-partum? Are they serious??
It’s almost as if there’s this underlying assumption that it would somehow be more OK to fuck with a poor uneducated person that it is to do this to a “successful” person. and that is completely fucked.
People need to get a fucking grip! I hate children as much as the next guy, but I have flown before. It is completely fucking rational to cry on an airplane.
Right? Also, it could easily be relevant in the exact opposite way: people with privilege sometimes act like people with privilege. I’ve seen tons of people who think they are above the rules simply because they are oh-so-important.
Bearing witness is an important part of helping people cope with trauma. Telling their stories and feeling heard may actually help their recovery, long term.
It’s a sad fact but people don’t donate just because they hear vague stories about tragedies. It’s when they hear personal accounts that they feel moved to give money. I do agree that posts should always include a few donation links right on the page. Not everyone will read the linked article.
Not really. It shouldn’t matter why someone is flying or who they are or what their professional status is. If you bought seats on a plane, they’re yours, period.
“my kids were moderately behaved, but they were bouncing around in their seats, looking out the window, peaking around to the seats behind them, etc. no one said a peep.”
Totally agree. It doesn’t matter if someone has a degree in molecular biology, is a teacher, is a postal worker, a barista, whatever. I hate that bullshit.
I agree - I have to be honest, I actually thought “who gives a fuck?” to myself as I read. Someone’s degrees or job should have zero impact on whether or not they are treated with basic decency - this site above all should get that.
Their issue was that she waited a few seconds to follow their commands. The fact that she did have the kid strapped in before the door closed, as promised, meant nothing. They expect immediate unquestioning obedience, apparently. In certain situations that makes sense, but this case is just ludicrous.
I get that they had to strap down for safety (and this is something I can see being inflexible about) but she did do that and crying babies are just something that we have to deal with to the best of our ability.
SHS being so good at that job is a bigger insult than her looks could ever be.
“not nearly as funny/edgy/clever as she thinks she is.”
Sometimes you have to give the devil her due. For all his faults and complicity, Spicey never looked remotely comfortable having to be this administration’s Goebbels. But Huckabee is a natural, because she’s a stone cold sociopath.
The video itself doesn’t make me feel anything, laughter or anger. But the phony outrage from conservative men who would be calling her a fat disgusting cow if she had short purple hair and posted about toxic masculinity on Tumblr, is thoroughly enjoyable.
I hate to admit it, but SHS is really really good at her job. She can tell the lies with a straight face, and convincingly act offended when the administration gets called out on pretty much anything. I’ve rarely seen her get ruffled. I have to hand it to her for nailing the skills necessary in that position, and in…
