Correction, not everyone. For example Mauritania, which lies in the Sahara desert, is a depressing place with a horrific human rights record. Its government has been accused of torture. Female genital mutilation is widespread. Although owning slaves was made illegal in 2007, 10-20% of the country is still enslaved.
