@CamJN: The thing Google did with Android to keep it open was create their own VM, Davlik, so when an Android app gets compiled its compiled into Davlik bytecode not Java bytecode. So they've taken the open source part of Java and for the rest of it created an open source alternative, so in the end the whole Android
