I think for most of human history women didn’t stop being able to have babies halfway through life, because they died a lot earlier. So menopause could just be a side-affect of another trait.

Yeah, I wasn’t surprised either.

This tendency is as old as humanity itself (probably). It’s one of the first things that happens in Genesis: God puts humans in a wonderful garden with everything they could ever want, and says (in effect) don’t push that button or something terrible will happen. They pressed the button.

Hmm, I’ve been reading The Great Gatsby this week, so I’m going to have to cheat a little. A few weeks ago I read the April issue of Asimov’s, which was pretty good, and it had a 16k word story called The gun between the Veryush and the Cloud Mothers by Anna Tambour.

I’ll see what I can find online, but I live in Mexico so Spanish second-hand bookshops are out...at least now I have some names to search for, thanks.

I spent a long time looking for science fiction written in Spanish, so I could practice, and couldn’t find any. In a bookshop in Madrid I was directed to an author, but she turned about to be fantasy-romance. In Mexico they’re very big on magical surrealism, but I’m still looking. There is an anthology out here, and

Some of his books are pretty specific, but a lot are very general. He has some good books about war, religion, economics, as well as more general things like love and death and fantasy tropes. I think it will largely depend on how his humour dates.

And just to be clear, the only legitimate cover for a Discworld novel is a Kirby cover.

Yes...that’s someone to be avoided.

Did you take the opportunity to switch up armies?

Hmm...one of my primary school efforts where the GM just read straight from the Manual, then ended with “Don’t read this part to the players.”? Needless to say that was entirely unsuccessful as an RPG event.

Fair enough.

My mind went straight to this scene...

Didn’t he also almost destroy France’s economy by severely diluting the amount of gold in its currency, which really pissed off the rest of the nobles? Then when he took down the Templars he said their gold had mysteriously disappeared, but, just as mysteriously, he then recast the French currency with the original

Thanks for correcting the timeline on the creation, and the purpose of the banks.

I love how these are all secondary characters. It’s not Han or Luke, it’s Lando. It’s not Mulder or Scully, it’s Smoking Man. It’s not Harry Potter, it’s Lucius Malfoy. It’s not Tank Girl, it’s Jet Girl.

That’s not Tank Girl, that’s Jet Girl.

I thought the destruction in Man of Steel was a major plot point in the DC universe? It comes up in Daredevil, I think it’s the base of Batman Vs Superman...to say it goes unmentioned is a bit misleading.

Oh, ok. That actually sounds much better.
