I think the thing that Olivia and Buffy share is that the other characters are more interesting than they are.

There was another Twilight Zone episode involving Shakespeare. It was a newer incarnation of the show. A hack writer goes back in time to meet Will and finds out that he is stuck on Timon of Athens. Shakes get the magic wishing coin that sent the guy back in time and says "I wish that you will stay and help me

I knew a guy back in grad school who came in one day and said that he had just named two new species doing just this kind of thing. He implied that he named new species fairly regularly. I don't think that he fully embraced his power to give things cool names though. Mores the pity.

It's funny. I love Shockwave Rider and think that it is tragic that it has been so forgotten, but the comparison between Assange and Haflinger hadn't occurred to me. I had been thinking of him more in terms of Spider Robinson, except not nearly as cool.

I sure hope the marketing people use the phrase "feel-good robo-violence movie of [the] year" because that is the kind of tag-line that puts butts in the seats.

With the huge insanity of the Judge Dredd universe, "Die Hard in a building" would be a big letdown. How about some Judge Death?

I appreciate a well-placed and correctly-used "tenterhooks".

Are there people for whom Flash Gordon is not a desert island movie? That makes me sad for humanity.

Fascinating, and a little disappointing. My wife's ancestors are from Marblehead and I had always thought that that was Innsmouth, but now I find that that was Kingsport. I feel that I can no longer gasp in exaggerated horror when we talk about her genealogy.

Reminds me of a bit of one of the William Gibson books, maybe Mona Lisa Overdrive. Someone has a bio harddrive or computer that's about laptop size. When it is finally plugged into the Net it manifests as a gigantic tower that stuns all the virtual traffic into stopping because they can't believe how much storage

@Malcontent79: It took me a long time to pin down what bothered me about those books, and then I realized that I was getting irritated by the smugness that his characters display.

Not really a Buffy fan. This makes me snicker a bit.

Looks like Ultraman was going Super Saiyan there towards the end.

I was expecting to find out that its bite causes gential rot or something.

There are older bottles of wine that these. Even older bottles that should be drinkable. If you go to this website you can buy your very own bottle of Madeira from 1795. It's only $4500. A steal by these standards. [www.rarewineco.com]

The question really is why wouldn't you? I am so ready for this.

@JLebowski: This might work if we still have easy world-wide travel in that time frame. That's not at all certain.

@spiderweb1986: I was also surprised by that issue. I don't know how Marvel got that by the Comics Code.
