There are two kinds of boomerangs. Ones that come back and then there are ones used for hunting which are bigger and heavier and designed just for throwing and killing something. My grandparents had several up on the wall of their house. The hunting one was much bigger than the usual ones you see and much plainer.

I have always felt that the most oddly prescient sci-fi book from that period that I have read was "Shockwave Rider" by John Brunner.

I'm glad someone is on the bear problem.

Not cool? Why not? I think it's rather clever. Getting people into museums is difficult. And to be completely honest, if you think that unicorns exist I have some really attractive investment opportunities that I would like to go over with you.

That second image really makes me want to go watch Deep Rising again.

That's amazing, but completely fucking absurd. I will read his obit with interest.

Shock!

@CmdrHunt - Agent of Time Corps: I love the idea of a reboot as I loved the original and Brisco County. But I must admit that given the unfortunate reception of Brisco, despite the clever writing and Bruce Campbell, I am dubious.

@mikesisgod: I am glad that I am not the only one who recognized it. That would have made me feel unacceptably old.

@gbmbg: Psychobot!

@moetop: That is truly amazing. Is it empty as well? It doesn't really jibe with my idea of a backward, impoverished North Korea.

Wonderella is the finest webcomic there is. Glad to see it get some love here.

Minor note about Doomsday: I always thought that the scientist creating Doomsday was specifically altering the beast every time he cloned the remains. No Lamarckism required.

So, they have all this free time after getting a few beetle larvae? I might have to start eating beetles.

I am going to be honest in that I have never read anything of his, even his name isn't really ringing any bells, but after reading about his output I have to say that I am tremendously impressed. To write that many sci-fi books is an impressive and praise-worthy accomplishment. Glasses high to E.C.

@Honu Harry: There is obviously a large dropoff right off shore.

This episode ruled if only for the line "Somebody's buying me pancakes for a year!"

There is a bit right before the end where the guy lets go with both hands to clip on. It makes my hands and feet hurt just thinking about it.

Wow. The rocket and twist one from 1, 3, and 11 was in Big Bear Park when I was growing up in Houston in the early 70s. That twirling slide has a really strong first drop that scared the crap out of me as a 4-year old.
