Which is it? Pregnant people or women?
Which is it? Pregnant people or women?
So, since Texas is forcing pregnant women to stay pregnant, essentially becoming another party responsible for the pregnancy, is the state of Texas now responsible for any actions the woman takes during that pregnancy that might jeopardize the fetus just like those fathers?
This seems like the surprisingly logical corollary to the Republican position that women can’t make decisions about abortions because the child is the father’s property.
And I hope we get many more of these sort of judgements too. Because men are the ones driving the anti-women laws right now, and it might be the only way we get them to stop is to be as punitive as possible on men so they stop and actually campaign to remove them. Let men pay the price.
These rulings strip women of their humanity and burden men with the job of treating women like owned objects - like slaves they are expected to control. The is Christian Sharia Law in the US, and this is what Patriarchy is.
“but the only part the tankies do get right is the part where they say most Chinese support the CCP”
Everything you say is true here, but the only part the tankies do get right is the part where they say most Chinese support the CCP.
It’s probably kind of you to refer to your colleague’s article saying that the coat hanger symbol with a red circle and a diagonal slash to mean no, which has been emblematic of the pro-choice movement for more than 50 years now was “controversial and confusing” (it is neither), but if you read the comments to that…
“is a problematic figurehead for the movement”, but it’s not a figurehead for the movement it’s literally one activist group out of many. And something is not “problematic” just because you disagree with it.
Wow, this is a terrible article.
It’s a strange front page on Jezebel right now, with this article putting down activists for protesting the impending decision, and an article from yesterday (still visible on the main page at the same time, for me) decrying national anti-sexual violence groups for being too quiet.
Articles like this are the reason why I check out Jezebel less and less.
lol, are we dictating how people protest now? I thought that was something we weren’t supposed to do. Jokes.
God. Was this article a rejected satire from Portlandia?
The attention grabbing symbols they’re using at their protests aren’t nuanced enough, you say? They’re protesting in major media markets where they can more easily recruit people to show up instead of smaller ones you say? They disagree on strategy with groups you favor more but not on any goals you say? Well, to hell…
Why is “biological differences” in quotes? Are there no “biological differences” between one person and another? Does size count? Or is that defined some other way?
You’re fooling yourselves if you think this is merely a right-wing concern. There are countless parents of young female athletes, liberal and otherwise, who won’t stand for this becoming the norm.
I've always considered myself to be very progressive, but I've felt some unease (not the best word but can't think of a better one) with saying things like trans women are real women, even if they haven't done anything to transition besides change their name and pronouns. I'm sorry but if someone refuses hormones,…
People honestly believe that their feelings dictate not only their gender but also their biology and that anyone who even questions this obvious discrepancy is a transphobe.
That’s because it’s a man swimming on the women’s team. It’s riduculous to say he’s a woman and belongs on the women’s team. Why does anyone believe this nonsense? Men are men. They can explore their gender expression, but it doesn’t make them women and it’s completely unfair to have a man on the women’ s team.
