I agree, I wish I didn't feel this way about her, and I am very anti-bodysnarking in general, but for whatever reason I get some sense of schadenfreude out of a person who is so shallow and superficial losing control of her appearance, which defines her entire being.

my point is, it's a bit silly to set these hard borders. I don't really care what "official" generation I am labeled as, it doesn't affect anything. Also, according to wikipedia, the cut-off is 1981 or 82.

That cut-off between millennials and Gen-Xers seems strange and arbitrary. I was born at the end of 1981, and I've got a lot more in common with my friends who were born in '82 than a 50-year-old.

Ooohh, I haven't seen last night's episode yet. It seems like the writers are "saving" the kids for some sort of out-of-left-field plot device.

She certainly had her moments, as any human does, but I do see her as my own parenting example. I feel really lucky, especially when reading articles like this.

Oh, I still watch it, I'm just not really rooting for anyone. When I first started watching it I was on Olivia's "side", though.

I know right - get over stupid annoying Fitz already, Liv! Ugh. I really liked Mellie at first, but now it seems like all she does is manipulate.

That's totally true, they are a cool and interesting couple. I guess I was thinking more of the White House peeps - Fitz, the chief of staff dude, Mellie, even (gulp) Olivia... I really want Noel to be likable, hopefully he will quit the creepy spying stuff and just be a nice hot man in uniform, date Olivia, and get

yuppers. My Mom is an amazing example: growing up, my Mom (and Dad, I guess) never said anything negative about their or my body. During high school when I would pinch my belly and ask "am I fat?" my mom would say "are you nuts? You look great!", and I don't/never had body image issues. I only recently (and I'm 30!)

Is anyone else increasingly finding every character in this show completely unlikeable? I now audibly groan and roll my eyes every time Fitz is in a scene - he is so whiny and over-dramatic. President Bartlett would never behave that way.

Totally. I was totally against the JSimp pregnancy body-snarking, even though I find her to be mildly annoying, but for some reason KK is fair game. I think it's because she is so shamelessly exploitative of every single teeny tiny life event, it's nice to see her lack of personal boundaries backfire.

I agree with your more general point - that some men may get intimidated by a woman's accomplishments and abort flirting - but what exactly are you gaining by exclusively dating Ivy League men? There are plenty of smart, well-educated, feminist men who did not attend an Ivy League school that you are dismissing based

Just smear vaseline over any sensitive part of your body. I've run a bunch of half-marathons, nothing ever bled. I got a few blisters every now and then, but nothing worse than new heels would cause.

So the solution is to cripple the citizens further, while the rich get richer?

You've gotten a lot of good advice; as someone who *just* finished a 6-year PhD at age 30, I'll just add that you've gotta check in along the way to make sure the journey is just as enjoyable as the destination - life is just too short, you know? Don't put off all the stuff you want to do for "after"; start doing some

Among other things, I am sad that NIH funding will be affected. I guess because I am a scientist, that makes the NIH my "pet project"? Nevermind all that BS about biomedical research benefitting the greater good in both health and economy, and that the return on investment of the human genome project was 141:1. I

ooohhhhh OK I see what you meant - the dudebro programmer types who want a job at facebook or something so they can start building their expensive gadget collections, right? My husband is a computer scientist and he has to contend with that scene on a regular basis, although there are "true" scientists and innovators

Have you met any scientists?! Academic scientists are, almost by definition, *not* attached to materialism; they choose to pursue research and teaching, living off a fraction of what they could make in industry or consulting jobs, in many cases not achieving job or financial security until their 40s. There are some

I don't know the OP, but I have a friend who is both pursuing a PhD in a STEM field at a top school and print modeling on the side to get some extra cashola. She went straight from undergrad at age 22, so she still had a good 3 years before she was considered "old" in modeling world.
